Evaluator

Description
The purpose of the speech evaluation is to help the speaker become less self-conscious and a better speaker.

Preparation
You should contact the speaker you are scheduled to evaluate several days before the meeting to make sure you know the objectives of the speech as they are detailed in the manual, as well as the speaker’s personal objectives.

Presentation
Time allotted is typically 2-3 minutes, with a leeway of 30 seconds plus or minus, in order to qualify for Best Evaluator. The speaker’s manual will have specific goals for each speech that you can comment on. You should always begin and end the evaluation on a positive note. Always leave the speaker with specific methods for improving. Remember to provide balanced feedback and cite examples of how the speaker did particularly well in addition to remarking on ways the speaker could improve.  The best evaluations help the audience learn how to give an effective speech and avoid rehashing the content of the speech.
