Next week will be a special meeting to kick off the Evaluation and International Speech Contests. Many roles are still open so please contact Pat Sultan or Barb McIntyre if you are available to help out or have any questions about the event.
As always, guests are welcome!

Transferable Skills
Fellow Toastmasters,
Thank you for your feedback on my speech last week. I did end up writing up a blog post about it, so I thought I would share that with you: raeraegoesreal.wordpress.com
I also wanted to thank you for the opportunity to serve as Webmaster for these past few years. In this role, I have learned a lot about WordPress and blogging, which is what lead me to start my own blog about my passion for cooking. Isn’t it great when you volunteer to do something and end up with skills that transfer to your personal life?
Thanks, Erin
Effective Evaluations
With the Evaluation contest coming up in a couple of weeks, what better time to study up on what makes a great evaluation. Here is a link to the official booklet from Toastmasters.org. Check it out!
Welcome Sonia Breazeale
A warm welcome to new member Sonia Breazeale! Originally from the Czech Republic, Sonia managers oncology clinical studies at Seattle Genetics, is a busy mom of two and loves to stay active with swimming, yoga and hiking. She decided to join Canyon Park Echoes this year because she wants to get more comfortable speaking when put “on the spot”. She is also working on active listening, which is such a valuable skill in the professional world and at home. Please be sure to introduce yourself to Sonia!
Welcome New Member Sundara Tim
Like many of us, Sundara is looking to challenge herself and overcome some long standing fears of public speaking. She says, “I hope to learn a lot about myself through this process and meet new friends.”
Sundara was born and raised here in WA state. She enjoys reading and binge-watching shows on Netflix. Her goal for 2014 is to become inspired, challenged and motivated to grow as much as she can. Joining Toastmaster’s was a step towards achieving this goal.
Welcome Sundara and best wishes to everyone for their 2014 goals!
