Experience how you can become a confident speaker and leader

OPEN HOUSE: Wednesday, November 20, 12 – 1 pm

Canyon Park Echoes is hosting a public open house for people who want to improve their speaking and leadership skills, including helping to advance proficiency in English as a second language (ESL).We’ll have special speakers and snacks at the event. Everyone interested is welcome. There is no cost to attend.

Toastmasters helps members:

  • Improve speaking skills and learn to structure a speech
  • Build confidence in front of an audience or camera
  • Advance your English (ESL) proficiency
  • Learn to think (and speak) on-your-feet
  • Grow as a leader
  • Have fun!

Our members come from diverse backgrounds. Reasons for joining the club range from improving presentation skills at work, advancing on-camera speaking skills for social media, becoming more comfortable when speaking English, and simply focusing on self-improvement.

We’ll see you there! If you have questions, send an email (address to the right).

Welcome New Member Mahek Chhugani

Fellow Toastmasters, please welcome Mahek to our club. The introduction she shared with me is so eloquent, I don’t have the heart to change it so here it is:

I am from India. And I was part of Toastmasters club over there. I moved to US last year. I already have my Competent Communicator (CC) certification. Still in process to finish my Competent Leader(CL) manual. Though I have achieved my CC certification, I still don’t feel so confident speaking in public, this is the reason I wanted to resume my journey with Toastmasters. I want to have clarity of thought, to be able to communicate as clearly as possible. Sometimes I feel I want to say something and the listeners don’t get what I am trying to say. I also want to improve my listening skills. My friends say I think a lot, and sometimes while listening also, I get lost in my own world. I really want to work on my attention span. And I am confident, by being proactive member of this club, I will be a better speaker and definitely a better listener.

Welcome Penni Marvel

Welcome to one of our newer members, Penni Marvel. She is a professional declutter coach and organizer with a background in Speech Communication. As a certified coach, she owns her own business and has joined our club to become more comfortable giving both prepared and impromptu talks. She looks forward to being part of our supportive community as she works on speaking more slowly and gaining confidence leading groups. In her free time she plays trumpet in a group and also plays piano. We look forward to getting to know you Penni and might have to have you take a look at our TM supplies closet!

Based on member feedback, I restructured the menu for the member resources. Now instead of a drop down menu, you can access emails and info about officer and meeting roles only by clicking on the members link from the top menu bar. Best regards, your webmaster.
